Occasionally, I come across barefooted runners on the running trail. The notion of not cushioning the feet against impacts experienced due to running seems counterintuitive to say the least. Supporting this counterintuitive notion is Christopher McDougall. In this talk, he hypothesizes that human beings are naturally predisposed to be long distance social runners and running barefooted is natural for us.
Barefooted or not, to many, including myself, running provides an unmatched sense of freedom and exhilaration.
